Predicting Piece

Does Cp Have a Promising Future?

Authors Note: this is my predicting piece about how I think the stock CP will do very well in the future.

When you want to be a stockholder and have no clue what stocks to get or what key points you want in a stock, things can get confusing and get very boring quickly. The TV show Mad Money says that you should do a MINIMUM of 1 hour for researching the stock each week! The normal person wouldn’t do that including me, so just get a stock you think will do well.

The stock cp (ticker symbol for Canadian Pacific Railways) which is found in the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) looks like it has great potential. Cp’s main competitors are Ups, Fed-X. Cp was on a downfall from the past 8 years being so called the “Trucking Highlight” because people thought that trains burned too much fuel. Just recently cp discovered they now have an advantage over the ground and air shipping corporations. See unlike semis or airplanes, trains can add more boxcars to expand their payload. Journalists thought that if you add the load, the engine will bur even more fuel. Well, they were wrong.

Not many people know this, but in 2006 they came up with the “pres” of trains. This monster can pull 75% more than the previous module and only uses half of the gas. Its 500 gallon fuel tank lasts forever. And to make the train eco friendly the engine uses biofuel that is not only good for the motor but the train gets more miles to the gallon. So while shipping companies increase their prices because of the upwards hike of gasoline prices cp won’t have to do that because biofuel doesn’t change in value.

Part of Cp’s downfall was that they only did major contracts for 2 years. Recently the board at cp was talking about beginning a program that will let the average American ship through the railways for 75 percent less than it would cost to use U.P.S. so if the thought does go through everyone can ship anything from 1 box to 300 boxes. Cp has realized it is a major area for income.

In the past 5 years, cp has also came up with a patented design where there is a computer chip inlaid in the stern left wheel and as it goes past a possessor that is posted every 70 miles, they transmit the information that is in the chip which would be what cargo is in the car so people can track if their delivery is on time. With the stock information, cp is predicted to have a major inflation that will start Shorty. They give a 4.50 dividend which is a lot for a stock because compared to McDonalds they give a .32 dividend.

Although a popular TV show says that you should spend 1 hour on each stock, tv isn’t always right.  If you do very minimal research and you found a stock that you like chances are that it will do good.

Livin’ the Diesel Dream

Authors Note: this short essay is about a great quote from the book “Rules of the Road”, and why I think it is important to the average person.

When you see the Big eighteen wheelers on the I-80 Interstate, you probably wouldn’t be thinking about how they are possibly afraid of driving a rig that could run somebody over like a mouse. You most likely would only be awing at the custom paint job and all of the aftermarket chrome.

The person driving that semi probably wasn’t ordered to drive it. They possibly were told that they wouldn’t drive a car for 5 days without crashing. The Burning student was so mad that she wanted to prove herself and that bully that she knew how to drive. So 7 years later, here she is driving a big rig like a pro still living up to what she said in high school.

This story has a lot to do with the quote “driving makes you a trusting person”, because for example if you where at the White House and they wanted you to drive Obama around, would they just hand you the keys and drive away? No! They would look at if you have a clean record, test you, and question you. And based on that, they would decide on if you are capable for the job.

What I just said probably came across in a way that is confusing, but if you take your time reading it, it most likely will make more sense. To make it more clearly, you wouldn’t trust a person without a license to transport valuables items! You would find somebody that has experience driving big vehicles and with nothing bad on his record.

So now your back on the interstate and you see a big rig hauling some tractors, this time don’t pay attention to all for the aftermarket accessories on it, but give your attention to the driver. And if it is a girl, honk your horn in a congratulating style to show your appreciation towards her courage to be with all of the guys runnin’ round’ the states 24/7.

Driving With a Pain

Authors Note:  this is a short write up for the book “Rules of the Road” to show what the main conflict is and what I think is going to happen.
The Biggest Conflict in “Rules of the Road” is the main issue that the whole book is about. Jenna, the main character, Has had her Drivers license for 6 months and is working at Gladstone Shoes so that she can afford a car. One day Mrs. Gladstone stopped in for her last check up, because she is retiring shortly and handing down the company to her son, who has no idea what the shoe market is about. Mrs. Gladstone confronted Jenna during her last visit about being her driver for a 16 week drive across the country.

Now on the bad side for Jenna, the only car she has ever driven was a used Honda civic and Mrs. Gladstone wants her to drive a behemoth Cadillac. Now that would be like in her case a average Joe attempting to fly a Jetliner. On the amazing side, she beat the odds and drove that car like she has been for five years. But now Jenna Has to prove Herself Across the whole U.S.

I think that If Jenna does come through and impresses Mrs. Gladstone, that she will think that Jenna is a responsible young adult and quite possibly give the Company to her or ask Jenna to be her all-time driver because Mrs. Gladstone Said to her Driving Makes you a trusting person.

An Opportunity to Succeed or to Fail

Authors Note: This was a piece that I wrote for in the future when I feel like I am ready to move away from my parents.
Just about every 18 year old and/or young adult has a dream of moving out of their parent’s establishment.  It can be an opportunity of a lifetime or their worst decision of their life.  People can move away from their parents household at any age, but the longer you stay, the more attached you get and the harder it is to leave.

In the past few years, the economy has been in the vinegar and is not as good as it could be.  I myself have predicted that it is going to get better by the time I am 18 years old.  Currently, I am taking an investing class in 8th grade which has really taught me a lot about the economy and how it works.  I enjoy this class and I am planning on taking it again in my years of high school.

I am currently 14 and when I am 15, I am going to work at my father’s bowling company full-time during the summer.  This opportunity will give me the earnings that I could use for the first couple months of renting an apartment or financing for a truck that I would need for my job.

My plan is when I am 18, I will be out of high school and plan to go to a tech collage and get a degree in mechanics and/ or my C.D.L.( commercial drivers license ) so if the auto area isn’t doing so well, I could work for a local shipping company.

As much as I love living with my parents, I feel like I have the ability to go off on myself. I plan to rent an apartment or condo with my friends for around two to three years or until I start thinking of investing in a house. I hope that everyone is ok with the idea and that you have hope in me.

You’re Welcome
Authors Note:  this short story response for “Yes Ma’am” is about how Roger the main character, seems like a bad person on the outside but nice on the inside

If you had the opportunity to get out of a bad situation if you lied, would you do it? Or would you be honest? In a normal world, the average Joe would lie because even though it is bad, in the long run, you will feel better. Roger, from “ Yes Ma’am” did the unexpected move and was honest with   Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones said that if she did let him down from her clinched hands on his shirt, he would attempt to run for the billows.

Despite trying to steal the lady’s bag and run for it, Roger was a sweet boy. He was honest in the worst situation, volunteered himself to get milk or eggs for the lady at her household. When he was tempted to dash out of the house when she wasn’t looking, but he thought it through and stayed. At first, the boy was probably thinking she was kidnapping him, but like a good leader, he stuck around to see what she wanted him for.

Mean Man's School

Authors note: this is a short response to the short story “Dead Man’s Path”
The short story “Dead Man’s Path” is written by Chinua Achebe. In the book, Chinua describes how he becomes the principle of a school in a town that has lots of culture ethics. Chinua doesn’t see how important these are and totally ignores them. The people had a tradition of walking through the school area garden. Chinua didn’t know that and his wife planted a gorges garden that was spectacular. One day Chinua saw footprints in the garden and asked one of the natives why people went into their. The native told him about the tradition, so then Chinua just gated it up.

The Remade "No Guts, No Glory"

Authors Note: this is my comparison essay about how the books “ Program for Destruction”, and “ Sarah Bishop” Have in common and don’t have in common.
The Bloody Revolutionary war, a place where you are always in stress. The jacked car factory, where people are worried about what the sabotage person will do next. Do you see the resemblance between the two? The Books “Program for Destruction”, and “Sarah Bishop”, are very alike even though they are from two entirely different eras.

In the novels, they both deal a lot in strategy. In “Program for destruction”, that is the only way that the hardy boys (detectives) would figure out who planned out all of the traps. While they are doing that, people are secretly trying to kill them. With ether a big steel beam falling from three stories and landing 1 foot away from the detectives or the dangerous factory’s lights turn off while the machine is still running. In “Sarah Bishop”, strategy is the only way that they could win the war. The red coats had at least five times as more soldiers than the Americans. But somehow, the Americans dominated at the end. It was like “The Miracle on Ice” all over again, but war theme.

Both of the books had somewhat similar conflicts. Something bad went totally wrong and they wanted to get to the end of it. Sarah’s whole family got killed from the revolutionary war and she went on a journey to find her brother in the army. In the other case the hardy boys are called into a car company because somebody is ruining their company, so the hardy’s try to put a stop to it as soon as possible, so that nobody would get hurt in any way.

The main difference in the two books is the time period. The revolutionary war was in the 1770’s area while the car company’s era was in 2010. Also, the boys do not use any weapon of any choice. They only use themselves, unlike Sarah, where everyone is desperate for the most weapons.

So after hearing about these books, do you like your life even more? As you see, these amazing novels have a lot in common, and they aren’t that far away from reality. The rev. war certainly could have gone the way they told it, and someone could certainly do bad things to factories. The main thing is that they are great reads.
